Case study

Fenton, MI

Motmot partnered with the City of Fenton, Michigan’s Water Department to inspect a 12-inch cast iron supply pipe connected to one of the city’s ground storage tanks. The objective was to provide clear visibility into a section of pipe that had never been inspected and deliver data to support the City’s long-term maintenance planning.

Project Scope

Using our Autonomous Underwater Robot (AUR), Motmot completed a tethered inspection from the tank’s side access point. Our team navigated the AUR into the storage tank to access the inlet and inspected the length of the supply pipe.  Motmot delivered a package of engineering-grade outputs, including interior media, a defect catalog, segment-level scoring, and a transparent risk evaluation using standardized framework. These deliverables provided the City of Fenton with reliable and actionable data for future asset management decisions.
